A MetroLogic 1200 scanner works best. The scanner MUST be capable of scanning “3 of 9” and Code 128 Bar Code Symbology. The bar codes must have a standard terminator of “*” before and after the actual bar code number (You do not see this character when the bar code is scanned, but it MUST be there).

Another Scanner option is an Orbit MS7120 Multi-Directional scanner. This one is more expensive but members find it easier to scan their keytags. Most clients use a USB Scanner that can work in SERIAL Mode. This is what the Metrologic and Honeywell scanners do. We recommend that the Honeywell 1200 scanner be configured to run in SERIAL Mode. This enables the Sign In screen to run independently or minimized and still sign people in. A “SERIAL” or “ COMM PORT ” scanner WILL work with the system also.

That is your NEW serial COM port. If you DO NOT have a new COM Port labeled “Metrologic or Honeywell USB Scanner (COM#)”, do step 5 otherwise proceed to step 7. If a COM PORT was not created in step 4 do the following: 1. Using Windows Explorer go to the 'C: HoneyWell_Scanner ' folder and find the folder: 'HSM USB Serial Driver r1.12' 2. In this folder there are two Installation bat files: Install_x64.bat and Install_x86.bat 3.

The Install_x64.bat is for installing on a 64 bit computer. The Install_x86.bat is for 32 bit computers. Note: When installing on Windows® Vista or Windows 7 Operating Systems, you must have Administrator privileges or you will be prompted for an Administrator password.
