This system comprises of GPS module, GSM modem, IR sensor, PIR sensor to bring into operation the crack detection, communication purpose and identification of any living being crossing the railway track. The sol ution i s bas ed on powerful combination of mobile computing, Global System for Mobile Com munication (GSM), Global Pos itioning System (GPS) technologies and software. The inbuilt GPS module identifies the train location with a highest accuracy and transfer the inform ation to the central system. The availability of the information allows the train Controller to take accurate decisions as for the train location.
Positioning data along with train speed helps the central system to identify the possible safety issues and react to them effectively using the communicati on methods provided by the system. The ever increasing operation velocities cause an increasing degree of the grave consequences both in loss of human life and severe damage to the train and other railway equipment.
In the technical literature very few number of publications can be found that are dealing with investigations into the train collision processes to predict the level of forces and deformations realizing in the course of accidental collisions/crashes. The shortage of the literature sources can be explained by the extremely complicated character of the dynamics of train crashes. The paper takes an attempt to develop an iterative computation method for predicting the dynamics of train collisions/cr ashes. The solution is a comprehensive GPS/GSM based train tracking system, which provides accurate, dependable and timely information to the controller. The inbuilt GPS module identifies the train location with a highest accuracy and transfers the information to the central system via GSM.
The availabi lity of th is information allows the Train Contr oller to take accurate decisions as for the train location. Loca tion data can be further processe d to providevisua l positioning using maps granting a wholesome view on train location.

Project Abstract / Summary: The 60% of accidents in railways are due to track problems which lead to derailment. This project presents the system for automatic crack detection in railway tracks. This project can help to detect the cracks or breakages in railway tracks if any before the train passes and the alert signal is sent to the train operator and the power line is tripped off immediately.
The automatic crack detection system is constructed using vibration sensors and MEMS technology. Vibration sensor is used to detect the crack which has speed response to vibrations.
MEMS are used to detect the track deviations and dislocations. MEMS is Micro Electro Mechanical System that combines electrical and mechanical components.In this project MEMS are used to check the status of the railway tracks and RF modules are used to transmit and receive the signal. PIC micro controller is used to compare the input signals with threshold value at transmitter side. MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) is used for continuous monitoring of MEMS.
